Sometimes I wish we did that, but then I'd really worry about what sort of personalities might be unveiled.

One firm rolled a keg into the dining room once a month to celebrate everyone who had a birthday that month. Then everyone adjourned to their favorite watering hole or dive. Even then I wondered about the liability they were taking on, since some folks got sloshed right there in the company dining room.

Maybe it was a team-building exercise - protect and cover for your drunk colleagues.

I saw the title and thought this would be a bartending thread.

Not very, they seem to be mostly high functioning alcoholics or sadistic enablers.

Bullshit today for our "Dirty Santa Party"
Everyone knew that we were supposed to bring in liquor (aka something like one of those sets with a bottle of vodka and a branded martini glass).

So, my turn rolls around to pick something out. And I unwrap a lovely box from CB2 (the cheaper Crate & Barrel) and it has in there 4 orange glasses and 4 small orange dishes. Of course no one wants that since every other gift is alch!
Luckily one girl was out so the girl that picked for her could see my disappointment and "stole" the dishes from me, so I got to open something else and it was a bottle of Amaretto di Amore with 2 small shot glasses.

we have a 3 or 4 day retreat every year, with families, where everyone drinks a lot. in the evenings we sit around a fire pit on the beach (the retreat is in florida) and drink. this year I heard how last year I pulled somebody out of the firepit who was so drunk he fell in - but I didn't even remember the story myself I was so drunk.

Every Friday since I came back to my current employer I'd finish my jobs and me, my helper, and my boss would kick back with a few captian and cokes before punching out and heading home.

Well he went on a diet (that includes no liquor) and I've been hopped up on codeine for a while so the only time we were supposed to be drinking we were unable to.

I've rolled into work still drunk from the night before more than a handful of times. I've had a few beers on my lunch break semi-often. A while back, I worked at a different location and we would kick back with six pack while the last customers finished up their shopping, and headed out after work from there. Damn I miss that manager and store.....

Sadly, everyone at the store now is a prude, and I don't have my flask......

Yes, my company practically wants everyone doing funnels at the X-Mas party. Things get pretty crazy. Of course it's always fun when the VP of operations challenges you to an arm wrestling match and gets promptly whipped.
