haha Nugget...I live in America now. I just spoke with one of my friends who's from Kenya and she told me she's going back for winter break . Now I want to go back even more!

Wow...so more OT...I just finished working on my Orbital Mechanics final exam...6 questions, 5 days worth of work...most thinking I've done ever. I'm severely sleep deprived, but hey, I go home tomorrow and the semester's over. Now it's bed time.

Went out last night for a friend's birthday. Had a big group, pretty girls, and we were all having a good time. Around 12:30, one of our acquaintances, Cason, is just hammered and acting obnoxious. Bouncers are milling about and he's about to be escorted outside and then pummelled. So two friends and I tell a girl to call a cab and we run over, try to pacify the bouncers and windup literally picking Cason up and carrying him out of the bar. Took about ten minutes to get his drunk, belligerent ass in the cab, all the while we are running interference with the six or so guys that want to kick his ass. Scuffle breaks out, Cason accidentally hits one of my friends, but it somehow it works out alright and breaks up.
We finally get him in the cab and I agree to escort him home. He refuses to tell me exactly where he lives (and I'd only been there once), so I picked out a spot that seemed nearby and told the cabby to pull over, get out, open the door and get back inside.
Cason refuses to get out, so I braced myself against the other door and literally kick him out of the cab and onto the street. I then tell the cabby to go back to the bar. Felt a little bit like a dick, but Cason has also tried to sleep with my girlfriends in the past. He's the worst drunk ever.
I get back to the bar and find my friends chatting with the guys that wanted to kick Cason's ass.
Drunk people are funny.

It was pretty nice of you just to keep him from getting his ass kicked and get him a cab home if he's tried to sleep with your girlfriends in the past. He sounds like a royal asshole.

Pretty much. Everyone chalks it up to "he's a bad drunk", but he's a douchebag. That's the last time I babysit his ass. I talked to his roommate about ten minutes after I made the post - he passed along the usual round of apologies.

As mentioned over in the 'who have you met' thread, went out last night and met with forum member whacked, who is a Vietnamese student in Texas, back home for the holidays here in Hanoi. Went to the very nice Bobby Chinn's restaurant and lounge. Shared a hookah pipe, had dinner (the food there is pricey but very good fusion cuisine..i had lambshanks, he had salmon), and a drink or two. Actually...come to think of it...I guess we didnt share a drink or two - I drank...he sipped at his water all night. *****! em-Whacked-oi - Nice to meet you man, let me know if you come through Saigon while you are here, and if not, enjoy the rest of your time in the Fatherland!

I've heard good things about party mode...I miss the days of carni and pavement lol


My Dad's learned to cook in Kenya, which means I get my nyama choma fix here. I don't think I've ever tasted better food outside of Kenya, though.

Went to Chez Panisse last night for dinner with my wife.....great meal except the nettles pizza. The attentive waiter took it off the bill. As my Brit wife would say, "Good show".

No kidding. Bobby Chinn's food was great, I really like the atmosphere there too. The shisha got me kinda cranky at the end though.

Matt was a great host; aside from being 100x cooler than yours truly, he is about 100x more "Vietnamese" (in a good way) as well. He got some of the craziest tales known to man. I'd totally drink more the next time around (as rec'd in the other post), for if anything dude would be a blast to get drunk with.

All told, "drinks w/ m@t" is a must for all SF-ers going to Vietnam. Sounds like a bankable attraction, no?

Dunno if I can make it to SG this time, we'll see. Anyway, thanks man.
