I will be visiting Naples in May and was wondering if anyone knew of any excellent tie makers that are not widely available. So far I have Rubinacci and Capelli.

Which ones? Prices are different from maker to maker. You can figure on between 85 EU and 165 EU depending on the make and maker.

My two favorites are the first two you named. I also have a few Matuozzo ties. If you like wovens, she is one of the best. Marinella is the most famous, and also pretty good. Shops like Eddy Monetti and others have some nice ties as well.

I would say that 90% of the good ties sold in Naples are Marinella. There is very little impetus for anybody else to open a tie shop because he is so dominant.

Marinella is the single best tie shop on the planet. i love the fact that it's still a hole in the wall (or at least it was when i was there). i own several and feel special every time i wear one.

The shop has a certain charm, but you can find much better ties in Naples.

Everyone refers to Marinella's small street-level shop, but there is a much larger Marinella boutique in the adjacent courtyard.

Thanks for the info gents, but just one more question. Of the makers mentioned, are their RTW and bespoke offerings made to the same standards? I remember reading that Marinella's RTW is now made in England, not sure if this is true or not.

A few of their ties were shown to have been made by Drake's. I don't know that there has been a shift to using Drake's, or if this was just something that happened occasionally in the past. It has become an internet forum rumor, which is not necessarily a good or reliable thing.

Pity to dismiss a company just from internet research, cause they have gems amidst the rubble:

True. Many of their designs are outlandish, but there are a more than a few nice designs in there.

While I do not deny that there are some nice patterns (such as the one you posted), they are available in NYC and I am more interested in brands that are not available in the US. Thanks for posting the photo, it really is a lovely tie.
