You know, I'm not a shoe connoisseur, but damn if these pictures don't make me want to be one.

dr.no, those shoes are amazing. How much did the antiquing cost and how long did it take?

Ron, would it be possible to antique a pair of AE's in Chili to that antique mahogany? Would you consider that moderate ($100 per your previous post) or heavy ($150) antiquing? Thanks.

I love the look of the dark toe gradually getting lighter on dr no's shoes. Very, very nice work!

Thanks, that was by design. I asked Ron to heavily antique the toe box and heel counters (not shown). He did take artistic license to leave the strap area a tad lighter than I had originally envisioned, but I think it works much better.

Shoe, these are a B&S pick-up that I couldn't pass up.

Rider your work is amazing!! Please keep the photos coming!!

I wish I would have known about this before a local cobbler messed up a nice pair of AE Concords in chestnut. I had to just throw them out. The antique mahogany would have been perfect.

I do have a question: What do you do for the sole edging on a light color shoe (AE chestnut for example) that you antique? Does the sole get special treatment as well?

Is this antiquing possible with shoes such as AEs or is it not as good of a canvas?

On their way for a makeover, as I never wear them (because of the color):

Usually the sole edges - and the sole itself, if requested - get the same treatment as the uppers. I usually dye the edges and then go back and rub out the heels so they are a bit of contrast.

However, I also tape over the sole/welt if ordered, to not allow any dye on it.

Just depends on the directions.

Here is a pic of the same shoe where we leave some leather edge plain so it looks 'old' like the uppers -
