I went to B Nelson and had 2 of my heels replaced with JRs. Good work. The only complaint I have is that there are only 2 finishes available black and brown. I personally like the die in the heels to not be so excessive and to be kinda transluscent so that I can see the heel stacks beyond that "light" dye.

Not to detract from the main point . . . Very good work. Next I will be there to replace my entire sole and heel on one of my boots. Will post before and after pics once I get around to it.

Welcome!

So tell us, Nick, if you would, what you do about shoes on chisel-toe or elongated lasts. How wide a range of lasts do you have, and how do you deal with the more stylized lasts from British or Italian makers?

Hi Leaveitothexperts

FYI.....We also use a neutral edge stain. We finish the edges as close as possible to the original finish unless the customer requests otherwise. If you have a special request please feel free to ask.

Next time you come in feel free to introduce yourself if you'd like.

Hi grimslade

In most cases we can modify the lasts to accommodate the shape of the toe. If we can't (very rare) we'll let you know.

Hi Leaveitothexperts

FYI......We typically match the edge stain as close as possible to the original. We also offer a natural finish (clear). In the future, if you have a special request please let us know. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Hi distinctive

I am a big supporter of the way A/E's and Alden's manufacture their shoes.
When it comes to repairs however (from what I've seen) I am not impressed.
They spend a lot of money marketing their service but frankly their workmanship isn't as good as their marketing. Then of course you must factor in the price and how long it takes to get your shoes back.

Any quality repair shop will agree with me on this.

Ture-around time for walk-in's one week, mail orders approx. 2 weeks.

That's excellent sir...Alden gave me an estimate of 6 weeks on my shoes- I hope it was worth it. A couple more questions- Do you do sole staining as original manufacturer would? I don't care for the plastic-y look on replacement soles. Also, how would you "recondition" shell cordovan (that is-if you offer that service)? Thanks
