The one time I actually did that I got a compliment but I don't know what the person was thinking. Maybe if you asked for extra plastic bags at John Lobb or some other shoe store it could actually be stylish to wear them over your shoes.

Inspired by Lucky Strike, I ordered up a pair of the Swims last winter - same green color. Snow or slush is not really that much of a problem in Richmond, but I do have to cross an alley that floods at the merest drizzle in order to get from my garage to the back of my house - so the overshoes live in the trunk of my car for emergency use.

I also slipped them on a few times this summer in thunderstorm/monsoon conditions when heading out directly from work. On each occasion they drew compliments from people who probably would not notice shoes in the usual run of things.

I like the faint whiff of nostalgia they have for me. The only other person I ever encountered who routinely wore overshoes was my grandfather (he lived in NY). He wore the more utilitarian black ones that were probably Tingley.

The good thing seems to be that they're lined with some sort of fleecy stuff, - which polishes the shoes!

I'm getting a pair tomorrow - I'll report back.

the swims look cool but I dont need them to make my shoes look better I just want to protect them. not for the price.
