Here, alcoholism's not a disease, it's a lifestyle. At least it's not quite as bad as in Scotland...

Like weed?

Unless you're a poet, you shouldn't be an alcoholic. Poets are supposed to be physical wrecks.

Take for instance one of my favorites, Dylan Thomas. In his late 30's, he toured the U.S. in a permanent drunken stupor. He was constantly falling off of the stage, mumbling, and even took a piss in one of Charlie Chaplin's potted plants.

One night he boasted to his girlfriend that he had pounded 18 whiskies in a Manhattan bar. He fell into a coma a few hours later and died in less than a week.

Amazingly, he did not have severe cirrhosis of the liver.

To the OP, that's too much for your liver, unless you have many.

I drink every night, my classes don't start until 10 in the morning. After I'm done with homework and such, a glass of gin and tonic or even a long island iced tea completes the night.

I'd rather be a good liver than have a liver.

You need to put the word "good" in front "liver" at the end of your sentence for this to be funny. Unless you have a dialysis machine handy you are going to require a liver, even if its a poorly functioning one.

Well, they do say live everyday as if it were your last.

Moments ago, I awoke from a short slumber at my desk. In my hand was an empty glass of gin, and my face was resting on a copy of Carradine's "The Decline and Fall of the British Aristocracy." It was rather quaint.

I'm surprised Thomas didn't write the poem like that.

Alcohol helps you get to sleep but it decreases the effectiveness of your sleep. Wreaks havoc on your sleep cycle.
