I just got this Rag & Bone wax jacket, and I'm trying to decide if I'm going to keep it. Please comment on the fit. Is it too big in the shoulders? What about the sleeve length? Sleeves seems too long, but maybe that's okay for this type of outerwear???

Thanks!

looks fine to me. Maybe a tad too long on the sleeve. And the breast pockets throw me; both with flaps or neither..but that just me . otherwise...

could use a little waist suppression as the torso area seems a little boxy. shoulders look good and the sleeve length looks fine. maybe a little long.

where'd you get it? been looking for it.

too long in the sleeves, sloppy around the shoulders (guessing too wide), and big looking in the waist.

it's just slightly too long (1"?) in the sleeves. for this type of wear you don't necessarily want to have it at the end of your thumb like you do with dress shirts and formalwear; this is outerwear and i *personally* like to have it a bit loose so i can layer with it and have the sleeves long enough so my wrists aren't freezing in cold weather. waist is fine, it doesn't need more suppression; like i said earlier, it's outerwear, not formalwear. shoulders do look a *tad* wide as well.

I have a different version of this same jacket and it fits me similarly. It is NOT supposed to fit like an odd jacket from Poole. Those calling for more waist suppression and shorter sleeves have it wrong.... Shoulders are a little too big, I have the same issue with mine and decided to live with it.

Outerwear should be more roomy than formalwear, to allow layering. If anything, it looks as if the waist is just tight enough at this time, with only a shirt underneath. I fear with a sweater underneath it may be too tight to button.

there is too much misguided attempts out there for everything to be fitted, waist suppressed, that sort of stuff. I like Barbour coats for this reason: it's a functional wax jacket that does what it's designed to do, and flatter the wearer a lot, naturally, without resorting to fancy fitting.

Ignore my entire post if you bought this jacket for the look. In that case, shoulder is a bit big, sleeve about 1.5" too long, and waist need suppresed by about 1/2" each side.

No, it does need shorter sleeves. I've started taken in the sleeves (not cuff-short, but off my palms to be sure) on my casual jackets and the difference is substantial, they are more enjoyable to wear.

Shoulders are a tad too wide but not to an extent that it causes a problem. For this reason alone, I would not even consider waist suppression. Having a boxier fit in the shoulders and a slim torso region would totally ruin the proportions. I would take an inch off the sleeves but definitaley do not shorten the jacket.

I think it looks good.

The entire cuff (with buttons attached) is removable. This fairly easy operation is more akin to shortening a shirt sleeve than a coat sleeve.

While the cuff is removed from the sleeve-end, simply shorten the sleeve-end the desired amount. Open the sleeve seam to extend length of seam opening and adjust sleeve taper to match the cuff's cuff-to-sleeve diameter and re-attach the cuff.

Since everything is being taken-in or shortened, none of the original marks will show as they do on (waxed) cotton when it is lengthened or opened-up.

Don't make the sleeves too short! Nevertheless, they do appear too long as-is.

Bump/hijack/whatever.

Just got the same jacket today, figured I'd post pics for comparison's sake. Fit comments welcome. This is with the outer buttons in back buttoned--maybe gives 1.5" of waist supression versus the inner buttons. Jacket is pretty stiff but should loosen up. This is a 44 on a 43" chest--fit is snug.

I'm concerned the sleeves are just a little short. I'm also concerned about the feasibility of dropping this cash on a jacket that probably isn't warm enough to go all winter.

I prefer the fit on the OP pics. This strikes me as a jacket made for layering and to wear on top of a sweater. That looks impractical in nyf's pics. I don't think a tight fit suits this jacket. JMO of course
