You gotta love America - real sales where they run stores not museums. At DJs in Sydney some of the clothes are on the 4th or 5th sale ticket.

Lunch time thrift at the SA was good to me today. Some big guy must have died. Picked up two vintage Harris tweed jackets from Sears in my size. They have real skinny lapels and full canvas construction which I found suprising. I didn't realize Sears carried stuff that good even back then (60s?). Also found a vintage trench with no tags in my size.

You don't know how many times I've thought, "some poor bastard must have died", when I find some brand new item in a thrift store.

Hit up my local thrift store, here's what I found:

Some well-worn Florsheim Imperials. Pics show a before and after of a thorough cleaning and polishing. Bought for $1. Very well made shoes.

Yellow sports coat that fit me very well. Very surprising for my 6', 140 lb frame. Bought for $5.

Black well-made wool sports coat. Black base with a very interesting rough dispersion of yellow, red, and blue wool threads. I LOVE this jacket, and it fits me VERY well! It has back-side slits and flares a bit.....just a great shape. Bought for $5. Came with a nifty pocket square. I gotta try to get a better pic of the fabric, as the contrasting threads are more prominent in real life.

It's weird to find vintage stuff in my size (46L) so I can't help but think of the individual who used to own them. Poor sap.

I'm much more of an optimist. I generally figure they just gained weight or their wife didn't like it. Of course, if it's a particularly older garment...
