Just to reconfirm my cynicism for the Spurr brand I was at a factory in South Central a few weeks ago where they're made. This jean is a $8-$10 sew tops with a $5-$8 resin finish, no cost for the raw. Even if the denim is $10 a yard and has a yield of 1.5 to 1.75 you have $17 in fabric. $17 for the fabric + $8 sew is $25. Add another $3 for all trim = $28. Shipping, packaging and overhead your at $35 approx. Aren't these jeans $300 in the Bergdorfs?. If so they're probably wholesaled at $130 to $140. These fella's are making some hella margin. Their leathers are pricey to, probably made in India like most leather jackets these days. All costs are estimates based on my experiences with factories, laundries and imported denim.

It was my understanding pretty much all premium denim has a similar manufacturing cost... except maybe natural indigo, and that's only marginally higher. Especially raws. plus or minus rivets, but really you're just adding negligible costs.

There are actually considerable variations in fabric price, and trims can nickel and dime you to death, but the real difference is the the washes. Within the same laundry, washes can be $1 (rinse) or $25+ (these are some complicated washes.)

Of course, the country of manufacture is a huge factor as well. Go to Japan for maufacturing, and you are jacking your costs ups significantly. Go to China, or Bangladesh or Vietnam or Pakistan, and you saved yourself a fair chunk of change.

Socal do those ysl's have the nubs at the bottom instead of a sole?

Not nubs per se like Tod's; but, they have big round rubber things on the bottoms rather than a hard sole. There is a non tassle pair that is almost like a slipper loafer that has a hard sole.

Ah I see thanks, I haven't seen the non tassle pair and they only had the darker leopard print which I don't like. They had a black velvet moc in the shape I liked (hard sole) but I wonder if they have that in the lighter leopard version. Who carries lanvin in nyc?
