His epic songs are great, but what about the short 'n sweet ones?

Cripple Creek Ferry comes to mind.

I thought that The Fedora Lounge did a song about Cripple Creek.

Well, since I seem to be the only one who appreciates his BS period, here's a short and sweet one from Last Time Around:

"I just can't seem to get movin'
Love me enough to begin
And I'll never forget you
I hope that you care
More than a little for me
It's so hard to wait.

If I should stand and stare
Don't be alarmed at me
It's so hard to wait.

I just can't seem to get movin'
Love me enough to begin
And I'll never forget you"

Written by Neil and Richie; lead singer -- Richie. I still have the LP.

doke: You're thinking of the Band's Up On Cripple Creek. Another great song by another great group.

BTW, When I was in college, BS broke up and Richie formed Poco with Messina. They went on tour and stopped by my college. I went to the concert and was blown away. I had never heard a steel guitarist that good and never knew that a steel guitar could sound like an organ at times.

I love that picture.

I'll get flamed for this, but I still think The Band was better than The Beatles.

I won't flame you for that one. The Band is my all time favorite group along with the Clash.

The Band is definitely on my short list of "Greatest Groups of All Time." It's up there with CSN/CSNY and Steely Dan.

Richard Manuel was one of the best singers to ever be recorded...the music world is not the same without him and Rick Danko around.

For me it's The Band and Talking Heads. I was just spinning Big Pink last night.

There is not a band Young was involved with that I don't have high on my favorites list and no period or style of his that I don't love. But the single best concert I've seen in my life was Neil Young and Crazy Horse. They just rocked the **** out of the place.

tony: I agree. In fact, I grew very tired of CSN. Gave their record away. Still have Deja Vu though. Neil added that extra something that was missing in CSN.
