That tourbillon is one of the most expensive watch complications and is actually not the movement. It is was created to counteract the force of gravity on the movement's operation.

Well, the tourbillon is part of the movement and also serves as a second hand (most, but not all, tourbillons rotate once per minute). I'm really surprised to see this watch. I thought Jacob pretty much only did quartz and nothing high end mechanical. Does anyone know who's movement he's using? Lastly, I know it would be lost on the jeweler who put the 'b' in subtle, but the tourbillon does not need to be seen. Patek's are visible only from the display back - but they put the word Tourbillon on the dial , so go figure.

The way i understand it is that the movement of the FPJ is unique in that it can accomodate a lot of other movements w/out increasing the thickness of the watch. It also has a 7 day power reserve and is extremely accurate due to the constant spring compression. The newer models have an all gold movement (the only manu i believe) and that really ups the ante in terms of $$$, the brass movements like mine have become very hard to find. i just got lucky due to a connection in HK and snapped it up. Good chance that it will be a real winner in the long run though. Thx.

Yes, but in pocket watches, on wrist watches it's utterly worthless.
