First of all sorry in advance for posting this on both foras, but any help would be greatly appreciated as this is for a greivance at the next schoolboard meeting.
I'm trying to think of reasons that blue shirts are better than white shirts for everyday use so far I've come up with longevity and easier to launder.

Wait, there is a grievance in front of a school board on the matter of blue shirts v. white shirts? Is this about uniforms?

well, I like blue shirts, but I guess that is hardly an argument you can use.

can I ask how this came up at a school board meeting?

Yes, many parents and students are complaining, but not doing anything. I have decided to write up a bit of a complaint about it to bring up when at the next meeting uniforms will be called into question.

I can't, in good conscience, advise you on why blue shirts are better than white, when I don't think that they are (unless you can afford my hourly rate...) In fact, I think school uniforms with blue shirts would be hideous and you would confuse the more mature students with the janitors.

Blue shirt is for janitor.

This is probably the best substantive reason in favor of blue from a school board/parent perspective. It'll be easier to keep blue looking "cleaner" than white. My blue shirts last longer - my white shirts have a tendency to pick up noticeable stains. Usually coffee stains from leaky lids.

Negatives: Blue can be more variable after multiple wash cycles, whereas white is very uniform. And white shirts may be cheaper for kids. Or at least easier to find on sale.

I was actually thinking of coffee. We've all been there done that.

The washing issue isnt really that great on kids shirts because they will probably outgrow them before they fade.

From an aesthetic point, blue isn't as severe, especially if you're talking about a white button up with no jacket to cover up the vast expanse of white. Perhaps you should suggest ecru as well.
