But jazz is lyrical and musical. Pollock just seems random.

Seems indeed. As random as the method is, I believe he controlled it to a degree that he made visually interesting works. There was an article in Popular Science or something comparing his paintings to his imitators and to the natural patterns of bare tree branches dense against the night sky, and things of that sense. He was closer to the naturally random beauty than to the imitation.

IMO he's quite the opposite, rather deliberate in fact. I make the association with jazz because I see improvisation in Pollock's work.

There's a painting being sold on eBay now as a Bob Ross original. Starting bid is $2,000. I'd love to own it, if only to see the reaction from different people.
Pollock = Clem and Clem does not bode well with Kitsch.
