Beer made out of pears?

For the beer gurus on here, is there any beer you can recommend made out of pears? My girl hates beer but loves pears, so I'm thinking of getting a six-pack of this kind of beer for her as a funny birthday present. I did a little Googling and found "ACE Pear Cider", but it's not really what I had in mind. Does such a thing exist? And if so, where can I get it?

I can't think of any beer that's pear-flavored. Peach, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, and orange are the only beers that come to mind. Pears/Apples are almost always cider so you might be a bit out of luck.

Knowing what state your in would help locate the appropriate dealer, but bevmo.com would be one place to start.

Thanks whodini, I'm in Texas. It does look like cider is the only thing available, but I could swear I've heard of a pear-ish beer before.

vaclava, I always wanted to ask, what is wrong with you?

Belle-vue Kriek is a fantastic beer spiked with cherries at the end of the process. My wife doesn't drink beer but she loves this one.

I've definately drank pear beer before, though it was a microbrew and I don't think they're still in business. So I would yes, it is available somewhere

I don't know of any beer that actually contains pears, although several lambics from Belgium, especially peach or apple ones, can be quite pear-y in the nose. Or get her a fine pear cider; I have had one from Eric Bordelet that was certainly memorable.

Or, hell, just get her a bottle of good pear schnapps (I can recommend the Williams from Morand, but I don't know if it's available in the States). Works faster than beer, anyway.

Good stuff. Lots of good pear ciders out there; actually fairly high alcohol content, too.
