Gels, anyone use 'em?

Silly marketing campaign aside (gellin' like a felon) I was wondering if anyone used these? I picked a pair up at an outlet a week ago and put them in my Brooks cordovan loafers. They really are comfortable, but they are ***** to keep in place. Everytime I slide my foot in they ball up in the toe area. I was wondering if there is a trick to this, other than going to my cobbler, whom I'm sure could fix this for me.

I'm curious what the experience from other people who've used them has been. Are they comfortable or just marketing bs?

Personally I suspect a more rigid closed-cell foam works better. I'm not sure what the lifespan on the gel is like, though.

I find them mildly comfortable, but I'm looking for a replacement. I don't have the bunching up problem that you have, but my two complaints are that the arch support sucks and that the material has no "memory".

I've never used this product, but I've been disappointed with Dr. Shoals products in the past. I also think soft inserts are uncomfortable. I've been touting the Birkenstock 3/4 insert for years, I think it's a great product.

I tried gel inserts for a couple of days before throwing them out for something stiffer and more structured. My feet would still be sore after work without any arch support, so I got the foam(?) version with a hard plastic tab at the arch and have been satisfied with those. Both had problems with heel slippage on my wider shoes, but the latter does so much more for me in terms of comfort and support.

does that wreck this inside of the shoe? I have used double stick tape, it works ok, but sometimes can slip after a few weeks.

I put gel in my hair, not in my shoes.

I have tried gel heel cups, and they move around or stick to my feet as much a they
stick in place. I prefer Superfeet insoles with more structure and arch support.

+1 on the birkenstocks. I've been using the birkenstock blue footbeds for the past 6 months or so and love them.

If your shoes are uncomfortable try a custom orthotic. Barring the $400 dollars to do that get the SUPERFEET insoles. You do NOT need the gel crap if your feet are properly supported.

I got "Ironman" gel insoles for my new Frye boots and they are very comfortable. I thought they would cause my feet to get sweatier but they don't - they feel about the same as any other insoles.

Yes it does. Thats why I only do it to things like old boots.
