+1. I'll take a '97 Turbo anytime. In fact, I'll probably buy one in a couple of years, for old time's sake. To think about it, 97 was a pretty good year for sports car in this country: M3, 3000GT VR4, 300ZX Twin Turbo, Supra, NSX, etc.,.

Different headlights... that's the major styling difference. They went back to round for the 997.Originally Posted by zjpj83
Also they tightened the rear of the greenhouse, as well as generally squaring off the front end at the front bumper and at the front haunches that leads to the headlights. It's much more referential to the original 911s, and I personally think it's the best 911 design in years. They'd gotten a bit to soft in the edges in recent years. I also would take the GT3 over any other 911.

Looks are all in the eye of the beholder...
The new Skyline is the car I am waiting for, and to me it looks much more 'purposeful'. I don't like a 'pretty' looking car.
Maybe he meant the interior finishing.. that has yet to be seen. Maybe technology wise? In that case there is something to be said that the Skyline is definitely not in the same league..

meh Is it even coming to the U.S. this time? A friend of mine had a Noble, one of the few in the States, but he sold it pretty soon. Fast as hell, but there's more to a car than going fast. It was not very comfortable, practical, etc. I don't think the Skyline has this problem, but just keep in mind that performance isn't the only thing that makes a car what it is.

Yes, cost is one. Of course, the new Skyline is going to have great performance, but performance isn`t everything for a sports car.
The Skyline is basically like a Corvette in the USA. Great performance at a cheap (or should I say, reasonable) price. Maybe they can go just as fast as the Porsche, but things like fit and finish, quality of materials, quality of engine (not just performance numbers), etc are all in a different league.
Not saying the Skyline is a bad car. Just in my opinion it isn`t a car to be directly compared to a Porsche unless you are just comparing performance numbers.

It will probably go to the U.S. this time. They already sell the regular Skylines (not the GTR models) rebadged as some Infiniti model (forgot the name).
