What do you think of Ralph lauren compared to Brioni, Kiton?

I have seen a great Gucci suit and also a Ralph Lauren Purple label one on sales yesterday.....
What are your takes on these brands especially compared to Brioni and Kiton?

Purple Label (Saint Andrews) is of similar quality to Brioni and Kiton IMO, in terms of construction. Fabric quality is pretty similar to Brioni, although Kiton may use more expensive (but probably less durable) fabrics.

I don't find PL to be anywhere near Kiton or Brioni.

+1. Just put on a Kiton jacket and you will see how much better it is than an RLPL jacket. Using fit alone, it is leagues ahead.

Four distinctively different styles of jackets. Gucci I am not familiar with. RL decidedly English styling, the other 2 obviously strong Italian styling.

RL uses good cloth but not at the same level as Brioni or Kiton. Kiton is a softer construction compared to Brioni.

They are all so different from each other. It will depend on which silhouette looks and fits best on you body type.

Sorry but that's a crock of ****. Fit has much more to do with the body type and how the shoulder of the jacket fits an individual than quality. I own multiple RLPL (Saint Andrews), Sartoria Saint Andrews, Brioni, and Kiton suits, and am slowly replacing the majority of my businesswear with Saint Andrews mainline or RLPL because I feel the fit is siginificantly better for me. As far as construction goes, I'll defer to others but many have mentioned that SA has as much or more handwork than Brioni and the fabric quality is approximately the same. I'm not fond of Kiton's more delicate fabrics although they are certainly luxurious. BTW if you are talking about comparing Cantarelli or Chester Barrie for RLPL to Kiton/Brioni I might agree, but I consider Saint Andrews to be on the same level as the other two. Of course which style you like is a personal choice.

+1 to Drizzt. I think that Saint Andrews is every bit as good, if not better than Kiton and Brioni. I don't happen to like RLPLs model, but the make is fantastic.

None of them fit better than the others. They all fit people who are close to their model body and don't fit those who are not.

FWIW, by far the best RTW/MTM I ever owned was when Saint Andrews was making for Barbera.

I think that Saint Andrews is every bit as good, if not better than Kiton and Brioni.

Bullshit. I had a Saint Andrew's suit once and it sucked. If you want to believe that then go ahead but the handwork is no where near Kiton or Brioni.

That is a very strong response, and as a consumer I would like to know why to take your word over his. Also, what constitutes good versus bad handwork, or is just the amount?

Poor buttonholes, poor lapel roll, the sleeve fit was wrong, and the fabric quality was terrible.

I do think as per shoes conversations,everybody tend to favour a certain brand ,cut and style....
Human nature ,isn't it to push our personal preferences?
I do own a kiton and the cut is superb.....
I do also own a Brioni and nothing on rtw has got the same fit than a Brioni....
I also own Valentino,Christian Dior couture,Canalis,Corneliani,Paul Smith London ,Zegna and Versace and they're far away from Kiton abd Brioni...
I'm intrigued by Ralph LAUREN ,even if the style is too preppy for me....

Well, the only thing that has to do with handwork there is the buttonholes and possibly the sleeve fit. When I was first learning from the guys at Wilkes about RTW suits, they thought that the triumvirate was Brioni from Rome, Kiton from Naples and St. Andrews from Milan with the with the quality being more or less equal between the three. Unless something has changed, and from seeing some of their suits in Italy it does not seem that way, I assume that it continues to be true.
