I honestly don't remember whether the sole lay flat or not when they were new. But I've worn them a good bit with no issues, so I am not worried about it.

One of my favorite purchases ever, special make Alden spectators:

Brooks Brothers made in England true bucks. Supposedly these were featured in one of Flusser's early books, but I've not seen it and don't have access to it. Can anyone confirm or provide a scan?

So I've been feeling like my content : post ratio is at an all-time low so here's some photos of pair of Vass I got a couple weeks ago.

Not tremendously versatile but nice for summer.

Got the size a little wrong (should have went up a width) but they're breaking in nicely.

I believe "true buck" is made of buckskin - male deer, rather than roughened cowhide suede, sometimes made into "bucks" - white, dirty, tan etc.

nice nice vass.
that is still versatile in my book , and yes, U last runs about a full size too small.
i bought a 43 the first one i got last year and it was extremely unbearably tight.
basically, it is NOT a size 10 as vass says.

i have to wear a 44.

i cannot wait till my old english double sole in red cognac . i cannot wait
