I post three things, and everyone likes the most boring one best? And there's only two patterns (really, more like 1.5) in it -- and this is a pattern matching contest! Are we all just conservative business dress after all?

Yes, simple understatement is king.

I for one like your 2nd pic the most - the chalk strip suit with the checked shirt. Very understated despite the 4 patterns.

Well, today I have on that same gray stripe fresco, with a solid white linen-cotton shirt, and a conservative business dress tie (dark blue ground, widely spaced small red, royal blue, and yellow figures). Oh, and black shoes. Does that mean I win?

+1 The second pic is very nice.

I mean no offense, but I actually find the last one too plain.

I like the suit in Manton's first pic the most. I also find the combination with the square to be quite interesting

The suit is nice as is the square, but way too much drape compared to the second suit imo. This could be his body angle, but the minimal shoulder padding also exaggerates the right shoulder drop.

I took the gray suit pic myself; raising one's arm to take the pic throws the suit off a bit. You're right, however, that it has more drape. But it also has wadding at the end of the shoulder, whereas the blue one has nothing at all. Each suit shows the right side drop to an equal degree, I would say, or perhaps the gray one hides it a bit.

Such a valiant effort, though.

The outfit is also mixed fabrics and textures. Wool suit; cotton shirt; linen tie; silk pocket square.

I could win this if I had a better camera, 'cause my whole ensemble cost less than $100
