I don't own a red tie. If I did, it would be a Brooks #1 repp

That is the Platonic ideal -- the eidos -- of the red tie. Put it in mylar and get it to a museum right away.

My digital camera-foo is weak.

The tie doesn't knot very well and I don't have any pocket squares to coordinate with the bow, so neither get worn.

Perhaps the good ones you're referring to were made in Korea or Japan...

I'm still a serious n00b but the premise of this thread surprised me. Isn't the red tie the epitome of conservative business dress, and isn't conservative business dress what gives you a hard-on Manton? In other words, aside from maybe the notch lapel or the white shirt itself, is there anything that is less likely to break "the rules" than a red tie?

I think red looks good with navy, although it is about as cliched as they come.

I guess I still have a lot to learn ...

No, the ultimate conservative business dress tie is a print with a dark blue ground and widely spaced discreet figures in muted colors.

OK, I'll bite, my favorite red tie. I am not really set up to shoot accurate colors (at home), a snap in the window light. The red is "punchier" than in the pictures, not loud either, the silk is beautiful.
