Can I Shrink Ralph Lauren Polos?

If the weight loss was only in the midsection and the shirts are not patterned there, they can be tapered. Patterned shirts can be tapered, but the results might not satisfy a picky person. Edit: tapering a polo that has a picture on the front or widely spaced vertical stripes might create a bad result to anyone's eye, but not many Ralph Lauren polos have prints or vertical stripes.

You can try washing them at the hottest setting your washing machine has then drying them on the highest setting your dryer has. It MIGHT work, but Mr. Dryer the tailor is very inconsistent when it comes to shrinkage.

once you've washed and dried them a couple of times and they shrunk already, thats the most they're ever gonna shrink.
on that note, why do some people think they can buy a bigger size (not you jondoe) and it will "shrink to their size"? even if that were to happen, the shirt would be out of proportion

RL polos do not shrink, at least not to my eye, in the washing machine or dryer. I've tried it.
And their arms (at least in my size) are so big and blousy that I feel the whole shirt would look out of proportion were I to have the torso tapered.
I recommend buying new shirts. RL polos are ghetto anyway.

As for the OP's question, it's likely that you won't get any more shrinkage from heavily worn polos. It's best that you buy new ones. You can probably buy the same size you used to wear, but in slim fit.

Actually I meant my comment quite literally. I live near and take the subway through the ghetto in Brooklyn every day. Far, far more residents of the ghetto wear RL polos than the middle classes in NYC.
(That's not to say there's anything wrong with that.)

My little brother used to say that a lot. He was about 3 or 4. Thanks for the memories.
BTW, since I replied to this thread yesterday, I was in the Georgetown area in DC today. RL polos were at least 2-to-1 as compared to any other brand of polos. I suppose it all depends on where you see them.
