I'm thinking about getting the grande date in SS -- it, too, has the same kind of lovely see-through case-back... I'm curious -- as far as your actual use of the watch -- how often do you "flip" the watch to its reverse side?

Only when I want to admire the beautiful movement. I used to have a Grande Date but it didn't feel right on the wrist - the case is too thick IMO, the proportions are not as good as the Grande Taille case. I loved the dial of the RGD though and it is great value but it just didn't wear right. If you haven't already, I strongly suggest trying one on before buying it

I haven't actually tried one on yet, but I will... and, indeed, yes -- it's that lovely dial that makes the RGD; an instant classic.

In your Grande Taille pic, is that the original strap, or it is an aftermarket strap? Also, do you ever experiment with different colors?
