Chris will do alterations and while a bit pricey, you won't experience better fit and workmanship anywhere.

--- Chris is a real tailor. He gets it. He's a perfectionist. In fact, he's refined my Attolini jacket like for the 3rd time to get so right.

No ONE else does this in Chiago that I know of, NO ONE!

I don't know Chris's work but as a generalization I would say that a bespoke tailor's alterations are always going to be the best. They have a better understanding and analysis of where problems lie.

It's just a couple stokes on a keypad.

Do you know if a traditional tailor is correct person to alter the sleeves on a leather sport coat ? I was told to go to a cobbler because they have sewing machines that are thicker.

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced tailor in downtown Chicago, preferably the North end of the Loop? I have been to Riddle McIntyre on Franklin St., and they did great work, but I'd prefer not to spend $40 for cuffs.

I think there are two choices for tailors in Chicago; I had read about Boguslaw in the past, but several people have recommended Chris Despos, who posts on either this forum or askandy I believe.

here's a discussion of this very topic:

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=16217

[I actually posted this orginal topic, but when I was on vacation in the states a few weeks ago, I was closer to Atlanta. I took all of my suits and jackets to be altered to my favorite tailor, Custom Clothing of Atlanta on Barfield Road]

I believe forum member Soph has all his suits altered by Chris Despos, as far as I know-- you'll see it mentioned on the 'what are you wearing' thread here and there, and of course he seems very pleased with the results.

Despos Thumbs UPPP on tailoring skills and good taste.
Boguslaw is good at talking like a Russian.

If my name started with bogus, I would get a d/b/a.

On the other hand, maybe he's better off as a tailor...
