Not in love with the alligator, but like the monogram medallion. The shape is just lovely.

not a fan.

One of the 'pitfalls' of bespoke shoes (from this and other pics) seems to be the over indulgence of the buyer to get questionable aesthetics all mixed into one shoe. But it's his money so more power to him. I wonder if G&G do any persuading of bespoke customers to not go with certain features, or if they just say "ok" and make it

If anything, Tony eggs you on. He loves to make unusual shoes. Cleverley, on the other hand, will tut-tut what they think are bad ideas.

I don't care so much about the alligator and the other stuff. I am sure Mr. Hayes has many shoes and these aren't going to daily wearers but his initials on shoes??????

Why not put his initials on the front of his suits also.

I don't think that pitfall is at all limited to shoes

. I'm still struggling to get myself over the 'because I can' mindset and to avoid the trap of 'I can't order that, you can get something similar RTW.'

Shirtmaven can tell you about some of my more exuberant fabric choices since I thought I had too many blue shirts. Two of those babies are now reserved for weekends which isn't what I was aiming for...

I really don't know Ed Hayes from Adam but from what I've read on the forum he seems to enjoy what he wears a lot and to have a very extensive wardrobe - if these shoes work for him and if he enjoys them, more power to him.

A previous pair of shoes made for Mr H. were lined in pink alligator.

In keeping with Prince Orlovsky (of "Fledermaus" fame):

I went through the same thing when I first went "custom." Let's get peaked lapels! And hacking pockets! And an unusual lining! I soon realized that just because you can doesn't mean you should. There's more to going custom than just being able to select details you don't often see on RTW.

Sorry but those are absolutely dreadful. This is obviously more of an indictment of the patron's taste than the maker's craftsmanship, although at some point the maker has to know when to say no.

For those of you who are praising these shoes, would you be taking the same position if these were not a forum favorite like G&G but another brand - let's say Berluti?

While not bespoke, I just ordered the "Hughes" model and can not wait. Dean Girling e-mailed saying it will be 20 weeks though.

Nice shoes. A bit too fancy for my tastes but look very well made.
