Indy Boot seems to fit me because it has the lowest profile among the SF-endorsed boots. Better for all the biking I will be doing I suppose.

I guess I'll wait a year because I just don't feel comfortable with a pair of $400-500 boots sitting around a dorm room. I'll stick to the Katahdins and Desert Boots for now.

Alden Indy boots really don't *look* any more expensive than Katahdins, and provided you have a place to store them where they won't be trounced on or worse, you'll be fine. people routinely walk around college's with $400 winter coats, etc

People are going to steal your computer before they steal your boots, but you don't leave your computer at home, do you?

btw, I also wish I had my Indy boots in college.

+1 But...understand how the Van last fits (for me it isn't as simple as just sizing down a half size like with the Barrie)

newbie-type question: does Alden ever offer the #8 cordovan shell plain-toe monkstrap in a last other than the Aberdeen? I know the monk has been offered with the Plaza last in calfskin, but have they ever done something in #8 shell with the modified or trubalance lasts, or similar? thanks.
