I'm coming up to Silver Spring (?) and stealing your iPod. I'm loving this one recently; always room for a good, unpretentious singer-songwriter. You probably heard this, but for everyone's edification, he's the son of the Psycho actor... P.S. Yes, I know this song was one The OC, but if that was really the cred killer some people think it is we'd have no established indie bands left.

Ha, it was on the OC? Sad. I saw him open for someone last year in Baltimore, having never heard of him, and he was great. Good humoured, gracious performer, too, which goes a long way. His album is solid, although While You Were Sleeping is the clear standout.

Bicycles Thieves - Loser of the Year
The Dandy Warhols - Everyday Should Be a Holiday
The Kinks - Polly
Nirvana - Verse Chorus Verse
MBV - Lose My Breath
The Spinto Band - Crack the Whip
Nancy Sinatra - It Ain't Me, Babe
Beck - Guess I'm Doing Fine
Annie - Chewing Gum

Man, I think we have identical iPods. Here's a random twenty- with comments... Tonite It Shows- Mercury Rev: Don't really listen to this band so much...something about the vocals. You Go To My Head- Bryan Ferry: Actually, I am not such a huge Bryan Ferry fan but there is some nostalgia involved with this one. Road To Nowhere- Talking Heads: Great tune. I just watched "Stope Making Sense" again a few weeks ago. What a great movie. If It Feels Good Do It- Sloan: Great Canadian band! From A Voice Plantation- Guided By Voices: GBV rock! Nature Boy\tNick Cave & The Bad Seeds: More recent Nick Cave stuff is oddly positive and bright. This track is good. Another Nail For My Heart- Squeeze: Another nostolgic band for me. Great songwriters. Steppin' Stone- Minor Threat: This album changed my view of music. The Crooked Spine- M. Ward: I checked him out based on recs from Brian SD. Great stuff! Wave Of Mutilation- Pixies: The greatest band of all time. Also changed my view of what music could/ should be. Who Loves The Sun- The Velvet Underground: Hmmm, what to say? I Know You- Sloan A Girl called Johnny- The Waterboys: Just got a Best Of Waterboys CD. Brings back the memories. Big Decision (Extended Version)- That Petrol Emotion: These guys didn't last too long but had some great songs. Some members of The Undertones. Neighborhood #2 (Laika)- Arcade Fire: Great track from a great album. I Got You- Split Enz: Man, loved this band when I was 14. Gravity Of The Situation- Vic Chesnutt: Any other fans out there? Fantastic singer/songwriter. I Bleed- Pixies Lady Godiva's Operation-The Velvet Underground Evil Hearted You- Pixies September Girls- Big Star: Favorite Big Star song.
