Hate the ***** american pints, UK pints are where it's at

Canada changed to the metric system almost 40 years ago, but because most of what we buy is made for the american market, we often have fucked-up sizing (591 ml bottles, 341ml cans, etc). And products are still mainly labelled on a per pound price at the supermarket (with the per kilo in small), same for construction materials so Canadians have to be well versed in both systems

Base 8 or Octal has to be the best, everyone has 8 fingers. Then one's thumbs are free for carries or other 'flags'.

The only stuff I really have a grasp on is temperature in Celsius (but only body temperature ranges) and Millimeters and liters. This is just because of medical measurements that I've been forced to learn over the years.

sure I can do the quick approximate conversion but it still cumbersome and prone to error.

I know what 50lbs feels like instantly... I know how far 5miles is instantly... I know that my car has a 16gallon tank... but to figure that **** out in metric... I'm lazy and clueless...

I'm sure 280,000,000 other americans are kinda in the same boat.

Better yet, use the 4 fingers as 4 bits to to make up a hexadecimal digit - a finger down is a 0 bit, up is a 1. (ordering two beers might be a bit of a problem though)

Schooners and pints in QLD, if you're going to have a beer there's no point buying a schooner.

I can imagine tsubo and jou measurements, but bring up square meters and I am totally lost. My loft is 11 jou (5.5 tsubo) of livable space and 6 jou (3 tsubo) of kitchen, shower, laundry, and toilet. If I heard square meters/feet I would be very

Wow. English is really diverging, huh? I have no idea what this sentence means, other than it's something about the size of peer servings in Queensland (?).

****, how have you not been killed as a blue spy? Schooners? Ya fuckn cockroach, scuttle back south of the border.

Just kidding of course, you must be a youngster because back in the day Qld pubs only carried 7 and 10 ounce glasses, a Beer and a Pot respectively. The theory was that it is too hot in Qld to drink out of big glasses as the beer goes warm. A few pubs carried NSW sized Schooners but no one ordered them except Mexican tourists. I don't think I saw a Pint glass until the mid to late 80s and then you would only order pints of Guinness.

Nah. A schooner of beer is still understandable in Wisconsin.

Conceivably, but never in practice. and no, American builders are .6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666 as accurate as "metric" ones. and That's why I can't stand metric.
