Canada changed to the metric system almost 40 years ago, but because most of what we buy is made for the american market, we often have fucked-up sizing (591 ml bottles, 341ml cans, etc). And products are still mainly labelled on a per pound price at the supermarket (with the per kilo in small), same for construction materials so Canadians have to be well versed in both systems

Base 8 or Octal has to be the best, everyone has 8 fingers. Then one's thumbs are free for carries or other 'flags'.

Better yet, use the 4 fingers as 4 bits to to make up a hexadecimal digit - a finger down is a 0 bit, up is a 1. (ordering two beers might be a bit of a problem though)

Just kidding of course, you must be a youngster because back in the day Qld pubs only carried 7 and 10 ounce glasses, a Beer and a Pot respectively. The theory was that it is too hot in Qld to drink out of big glasses as the beer goes warm. A few pubs carried NSW sized Schooners but no one ordered them except Mexican tourists. I don't think I saw a Pint glass until the mid to late 80s and then you would only order pints of Guinness.
