Seriously guys,it's very unconventional and pointless while as metric system is much more better
for example in US measurement system

1 inch =6/P \t
1 foot=12 in \t
1 yard =3 ft
1 mile= 5280 ft

in metric system

1 km = 1000m
1 m = 100cm
1cm = 10mm

much more conventional and easy than Imperial measurement system, why won't US change it?

Old people, stubborn, etc. They tried to in the 70s IIRC. People hated it.

I love the metric system.

but I have no ******* clue as to instantly know what 86kilos weighs, or 200kilometers is how far.

The only stuff I really have a grasp on is temperature in Celsius (but only body temperature ranges) and Millimeters and liters. This is just because of medical measurements that I've been forced to learn over the years.

sure I can do the quick approximate conversion but it still cumbersome and prone to error.

I know what 50lbs feels like instantly... I know how far 5miles is instantly... I know that my car has a 16gallon tank... but to figure that **** out in metric... I'm lazy and clueless...

I'm sure 280,000,000 other americans are kinda in the same boat.

The only thing that would be better than switching to the metric system would be if we could switch to a base 8 or base 12 numbering system and then use the equivalent of the metric system. Base 10 sucks.

WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE POINT THIS OUT SOONER!?!?

Seriously, though, medicine, most of the sciences, and the like use the metric system here. Generally speaking, however, Imperial measures are pretty entrenched, and people don't like change.

Yet another reason to make fun of stupid americans. Liberia, myanmar and the united states are the only countries in the world that haven't converted to the metric system. What a stupid ******* country hahaha.

Same reason why most Americans don't like watching soccer. We got our own thing going already.
