I have to admit I didn't see this coming:

Very nice suiting as always from the future king. I don't seem to remember him wearing 3 buttons before, though.

And the photos from today's arrival in Ottawa confirms that Kate is the most put-together woman of all time. She looks like a million bucks at each and every public appearance she makes.

His suit is not that good, I certainly wouldn't wear it. His tie is wimpy. Overall, he looks average at most. Kate has a beautiful figure and face and enough taste to choose simple and elegant ensembles to draw attention to her natural beauty. In other words, I see nothing extraordinary about that couple (at least from this photo).

It was the three-button suit that I wasn't expecting. It's becoming a less common a sight in North America. Is it popular in Britain?

I think I saw a pic of him in a hard three button not too long ago. Perhaps he is trying to bring it back? Atleast he didn't fasten the bottom button.

Pretty much standard fare over here. Two buttons are equally as popular, but the 3-roll-2 is almost entirely absent.

Thank God that this pointless aberration remains the purview of ovine Americans and lemming like SFers and has not infiltrated the sceptered isle thus far.

Willie's suit looks like a hard three so he should have either done the top button or had his tailor / valet press a bit more roll where the lapels meet. His tie knot looks insipid.

Kate is indeed put-together.

Lord is she put-together.

grazie mille!

It will take me some time to wear a 3 button again. I was surrounded by too many ill-fitting 3 buttons as a Mormon missionary in the mid-90s to not be scarred. But time heals all sartorial wounds.

^ Kate has a lovely face but her outfits (esp. the high-heel shoes) are nothing extraordinary, promising though. She should learn from Carla B.

He has worn that suit in the UK before and it looks good on him. 3-button remains very popular and buttoning just the cntre one is absolutley correct..

The tie is not his best I would agree.

He does not travel with a valet.

I find his tie and (in particular) PS very uninspiring. All in all he could do with some advice from his father.

There is a simple rule re. the buttoning of the jacket of three-button suits: sometimes-always-never (working downwards).
