I like this style of boxer shorts, but don't (read: can't) spend $400 on a pair. Does anyone know what this type of waistband is called? Other brands that make them? Brooks sort of has something similar, but I think they have some sort of drawstring operation.

Maybe you can go bespoke boxers for cheaper.

This is a serious problem.

I believe the waistband is propirietary.

A proprietary boxer waistband? I doubt it.

<< I'd buy those skivvies but unfortunately they'd peek out under my bespoke shorts.

Damn, I wish there was a $345 Tshirt to go with these. PT Williams, any clue where I can find one?

At that price, I can picture a few people feeling the urge to wear just boxer shorts when out and about.

They're pleated, but that's all it's called. The BB model had no elastic, whereas these probably have the back of the waistband elasticized. Charvet and Bird's Boxers also offer pleat front boxers, but you'd have to check with them about availability. As for getting pleated boxers at a lower cost, go for the BB or Bird's. I was fortunate enough to come across some NOS BB Makers boxers that were too big in the waist, so I took off the front elastic, pleated them, and sewed the elastic back on in a way that it wouldn't stretch. The end result was less stretchy, but if I wear them on my natural waist (with my suit trousers at the same height, holding them up) they are comfortable and stay put. BTW, while the Hermes are forward pleated and I also forward pleated my own, the BB and Bird's are reverse pleated; the BB being single pleated and the Bird's double.
