I travel a lot so today I finally got a chance to visit my tailor. I brought in about 5 pairs of dress slacks/jeans for him to alter. After he measured every pair I realized that the pair that I was wearing also needed to be hemmed and tapered. Unsure of the next time I would be able to see him, I decided to have him tailor the pair I was wearing. So once he took the measurements I handed him every pair and just ran out in my purple check boxers, mid-calf socks and dress shoes. You should have seen the look on the mans face

The question is: why would you put on a pair of pants that needs to be altered? A-ha! There's the problem!

good point. Remember a month ago, you couldnt decide whether or not to get your pants cuffed? Well the pair I was wearing had a leg opening that was just a touch too wide. We are talking about 1 inch. I thought I could live with it but apparently not

1" is a fairly large difference... at least how I measure leg opening. Quick question, do you guys measure leg opening as flat across or all the way around? Essentially, is it ~9" or ~18"?

Also, this story is awesome.

Epic. Wardrobe malfunction involving the dick flap on your boxers would have made it super epic, though.

Does it actually matter which number you use to measure the leg opening? The fact that 9" flat = 18" around means that either number works.

To answer your weird and pointless question, when I take a pair of pants in to my tailor I tell her I want the hem to be 7.75" which she is free to either keep as 7.75" or delve into the extremely complex mathematical equivalent by simply multiplying by 2.
