Just purchased my first pair of 403 Indy boots (Chromexcel). What is the agreed method for treating and weather/water-proofing these? The sales associate told me mink oil. Is snoseal or obenauf's preferable?

Beeswax is a great waterproofer (Obenauf and Snoseal). Animal fat (mink oil) could, at least theoretically, rot, so I'd stay away from that.

Thanks guys. KG, do it man...I was on the fence but these seemed one of those special make-ups that come once in a blue moon, so I grabbed em.

McArthur or anyone, Can you explain what the advantage is to using crepe soles? Don't they get torn up? And wet? and then, once wet, mildewed and smelly?

Plantation crepe is still pretty hard rubber, it's not as spongy as it looks. Very comfortable, water-resistant, grippy on wet surfaces.

my alden irregular natural chromexcel indy boots in 11.5 d came in today. there is nothing irregular about them, except how irregularly awesome they are. Tiny indented "scrapes" (i am hesitant to use that word as there is no blemish in the coloring, just a tiny indent) are on the outside of the left shoe, but it disapears when you put the shoe on. . Sadly, I think i may send them back (half a size big, saving up for whiskey longwings). someone should DEFINITELY pick these up.

Suede wingtips on commando showed up today from LSBH. From their spring clearance.
Light suede and commando is a slightly odd combo but I like the look.
