Rocking the double breasted look. Extra marks for perfect sleeve length. A+

Is Albanese wearing a frock coat and a wing collar? Let's party like it's 1911

If they're rental then it's a little disappointing they did not go all out and dress like Ben Barnes, Colin Firth and co in Dorian Gray.

Remember all these cats can afford the best - not only that they are one of the few mobs of people who actually need to have a proper set of formal wear and have opportunities to wear it appropriately.

Bloody embarrassing all round except for Mal Turnbull - who always looks good.

Julia's Tim always looks like a twerp - can't dress himself or Julia.

Swannie looks ok except - sleeves too long, tie too wide, jacket looks a bit old fashioned but ok - pants need fitting and fer godsake lose those feckin RMs with a Dinner Suit. C'mon.

Mr Rabbit is always hit and miss - can look ok at times - I suspect he's lucky and can easily find OTR/RTW that works. Big fail this time - trying to look hip.

Ruddster looks like a drip - too many things wrong - and this from a guy whose family fortune may even be more $quillions than Turnbull.

"Sloppy Joe" Hockey is a clown and looks like one here - Although I have seen him on Lateline sporting a few great fitting suits.

Albanese looks like the low rent sydney thug he is

Brandt and Brown dress like the Greens they are - hopeless style - ever seen a well dressed Green?

Combet should know better and he has the shape to pull off a good look ..

All a big fail except Malcolm and he's the only one who looks like he's not wearing a clip on pre tied tie.

Oh PJK where art thou?

Can anyone tell me where I might find these jeans, or close facsimile, in Melb?

I'm looking for jeans without a low hipster rise, not skinny, but slim and without large thighs like old dad's jeans

These jeans below I'm told fit the bill.

Lee 101Z Selvage

Lee 101Z Selvage in Kaihara denim. Standard rise, a regular/slim fitting jean with very slightly tapered leg.

5 pocket, zip-fly in Japanese selvage denim, classic U shaped crotch, Lee copper rivets and buttons throughout.

IMPORTANT SIZING INFO: these are unwashed and will shrink on first wash. Definitely shrink 2" in waist and up to 2" in leg.

Levi's Vintage 1967 505

Levi's Vintage 505 1967, a store favourite, is now back.

This is a standard rise, slim regular leg with a very slight taper towards hem. The fit is similar to the 1966 501 but the leg is a touch narrower. Only the 1954 501 has a narrower hem.

These were the first pre-shrunk dry denim jeans made by the Levi's brand, the slimmer styling was in keeping with 1960s tastes. Zip-fly, classic 5 pocket design, with a copper waistband button and a two sided, big 'E' red tab. With Red selvage.

ruzzi - I'm no jewelry expert - but hey this is the Internet

But one thing I do know.

No jewelry is ever worth what you pay for it new.

As soon as you walk out of the shop it will be worth 50% less to resell - so the lessen is - buy what you like.

For that reason antique /vintage (read used) is a good buy and may even hold its value

This is very true, but I don't think I would want to buy a used wedding band.

I know very little about jeans and even less about where to buy them in Melbourne, but your question made me think of a store in Braidwood which carries US import Shrink to fit Levi 501s.

It's a real store - though not very handy to most people, unless you live in Canberra - but they have a web store as well. Thus...http://www.freewebstore.org/HoolaHoo...20_585708.aspx

They also stock American Optical sunnies for quite resonable prices. It's primarily a ladies' store, specialising in 50s and 60s style gear - but they have some stuff for the fellas.

That's why I find Australian jewellery stores the ****, putting some arbitrary price on their pieces. At jewelers in HK, you can purchase, say a pair of gold wedding bands, and they charge you by the price per tael of gold listed on the wall plus labour cost. Edit: just did a quick check of gold prices from a Chow Sang Sang and gold quotes at: selling for HK$15480/tael and HK$140500/tael for buyback.

Sadly as a denizen of Canberra RM Williams rules, there endemic, more so since Chairman Rudd had that photo op with Obama a couple of year back where he was wearing a pair of Macquarie RM's, if I remember correctly.

Your correct though, you would think he would have had some Edward Green's on seeing the amount of time he spends OS.
