I have a wedding to attend next weekend, and the only suit I own is a black one I use for funerals and interviews. Do you have any suggestions on how to make it a little more fun and relaxed? Do I stick with a white shirt but add some color with a tie, add a striped shirt, go tieless?Maybe I'll just google Nick Cave...

Add color! Blue or green shoes? Pink shirt? (not all at the same time)

Color, yes! I'm just new to this forum and don't really know what to do. Working with a shirt or tie would be easier than changing the shoes. It just seems like everything goes with black, so I've got a paradox of limitless choices, but maybe someone with more suit knowledge could point me in a good direction. I'll consider a pink shirt when going to the store tomorrow.

A black suit is not a great color for weddings, particularly summer ones. An easy fix that will make it look less somber is a gingham shirt too. Maybe try on a pink gingham under the suit?

Part of it depends on how formal and where the wedding is though...

Lightening it on fire might do the trick!

+1 on the gingham shirt. I'd also do a pocket square that compliments your shirt & tie combo

Provide photos of your suit please. Not all black suits have the same options available to them.
Different fabrics and dye lots, etc,

Pink gingham shirt does indeed sound fun, if you can find one. I would go with a knit tie, say a dark green. You could also go with something like mid blue paisley.

Oh, and don't forget the pocket square.

He wasn't really a big fan of black suits lately. I wasn't really following his sartorial adventures (despite my avatar), but I mostly saw him in brown, gray or navy. Maybe he's a member here? Ha!

^ suit is not black. it is awesome, though.
to the OP, i'm a fan of black suits unlike many here but more for a night out. not ideal for a wedding.
however if necessary a light blue/pink shirt would be fine im sure.
