FYI just browsed through Filene's (in downtown DC, on Connecticut) while out getting lunch. Quite a number of Oxxford ($999), HF ($499) and Zegna ($499+) suits in stock.

DC has a Groupon for Astor and Black for the next couple days. 1 Suit, 3 Shirt, 3 Tie package for $700. http://www.groupon.com/deals/astor-and-black-dc Disclaimer: I have never used Astor and Black, and I don't even know if this is a good value; I've just heard them mentioned here a good handful of times so thought it might be of interest. Good catch. On that note, I always check if online retailers are partnered with United, which regrettably holds most of my frequent flier miles. It's surprising how many partnerships they have. I've earned a good chunk of miles from purchases through Ralph Lauren and Brooks Brothers, for example. https://www.mileageplusshopping.com/...tVisible=false At a glance, potentially of interest to SF, they have Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, NM, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic/Gap, Charles Tyrwhitt, Lands End, J Crew, Thomas Pink, Indochino, and Yoox in there. I suppose awareness of this sort of thing is a PSA in its own right. Edit: Since Johnston and Murphy was just mentioned, I should note too that you can earn 4.5 United miles per dollar spent there.

I may have to get some suede beater shoes, thank you!
For the record, I have a polo from them that is pretty good quality as well.

The Turnbull & Asser sale is worth checking out....shirts range from $25(!) to $200 (sea island), with most around $100. Hundreds of ties for $25-75, including a ton of grenadines (ex navy) and knit. A handful of suits and sportcoats/blazers. Best: a rack of smoking jackets for $500, in colors such as bottle green, claret, orange, red & black. Didn't pull the trigger on one, but did leave with three shirts, a tie & a pocket square for $120.
