Black suit to interviews?

What size are you? It looks like you're wearing a 36 but truly be a 38 or a 36L.

Asians can pull off black suits better than Caucasians, as it provides too much contrast for the latter group and can give a frumpy look. Black isn't good on camera, too, but don't worry about that for an interview!

I got a size 38 suit at zara for 150 bucks and I'm getting it taken in a little bit. The 36 was too small.

I will update with pics when I get my suit back!

Intrigued to see pictures. Zara isn't the first place I'd go for a suit, but you never know until you know.

Yeah.. It was the next step after H&M for slim, affordable suits. I wasn't ready to drop 500+ on a suit.

lol.

i've met my style 'needs' (for the most part -- except men's clothing, as you can see), so now i hang out in the general section.

and NOW, im mostly hanging out in this subsection because im looking for tips that will boost my employability.

Half the distance from the collar to the deck. Cover the seat of the pants. Line up with the bottom of the stride. You may have to shade the first to hit the second and third points. You have about +/- one inch before things start to look odd. If the jacket is shorter, it makes you look taller. If longer, then shorter. Because the OP is tall, the longer jacket is not as much a risk than it would be otherwise. Soapbox time: I recommend the OP trade this in on a char or navy solid.

I started and once in a while participate in the one of the longest running, with some of the most replies and the most viewed threads in the men's general clothing subfora and even I don't think its odd in the slightest. Someone can search for some obscure non-clothing related item and find themselves on SF and start posting without ever really wondering on the clothing sections.

So I got the suit from Zara and got it tailored to be more slim-fitting in the waist area. It definitely wouldn't be considered a conservative cut, and my parents and older sister are worried that it wouldn't look professional for interviews. Here's a pic of the lapels; my sister says they're too narrow:

You're over thinking it .. just don't do anything crazy that'll distract during the interview. No interviewer is going to include the width of your lapels in their decision making process. Just dress in a way that you think you look your absolute best. Once you've got a suit on, you're set. The rest is just confidence building. ps: I think the lapels are fine, as long as the rest of the suit isn't crazy slim.
