So do I search for a new life then?

why not? I disagree with Fitzgerald, I think our lives have at least a second act, and maybe more. Movies, plays, and some books seem to have three acts. In a world filled with boob jobs and lipo and people who fail now but succeed later and vice versa, new lives happen. Or maybe they're the same life with a different veneer, but if the perception is different, the reality can follow.

There are even more reviews under their different operating names and in the "hidden" reviews where they have removed reviews that are too specific about names/places or too slanderous.

I think they are still around because they have tried to eliminate all evidence of their existence. I read one thing from someone trying to sue them and the lawyers couldn't figure out who to even serve the papers too. The only reason I know they run my building is an old crusty sign near the garbage bins--all other evidence has been removed and phones are answered simply with "apartment management". People are still sueing them all the time...they have a ton of cases against them in the court records. A lot of those were related to illegal levels of winter heat (a problem they seem to have solved by installing cheap electric heaters in the units so the complainers could pay for it).

Maybe Rahm will step up and continue the anti slum lord measures of the past...but for now, there are enough new people moving into first apartments that won't be able to find those yelp reviews and will fill up their buildings a year at a time (and with the way they jack up rents...you basically have to move after a couple years unless you can't get approved for a unit anywhere else).

People who ride bicycles on dusty little two-lane roads, with nothing for a shoulder and 50mph speed limits, in their pretentious f'ing spandex bike suits, at RUSH HOUR in a city where 20 minutes is a pretty damned long commute. They love to tell people how they have all the same rights as a motor vehicle, but don't want any of the responsibilities (like stopping at stop signs / lights), the basic speed rule, etc.

"Left-handers", which refers to people who hold their cell phones with their left hands while driving, making it impossible for them to signal to anyone where they're going.

Also fed up with licensed drivers who become paralyzed or profoundly confused by 4-way stops, or stop signs in general. Something must be done.

just got towed - parked for 5 minutes to look at a bike for my wife, because we are trying to cut costs by using the car less. my wife told me not to park there, vigorously and specifically. I ignored her and parked in an empty lot with no parking signs. within 5 minutes, we got towed. great.

so are you more pissed at the fact that you got towed, or the onslaught of "i told you so"s from your wife?

Gotta love the lots where some guy makes a living by watching to see if anybody parks there and then calling up a tow truck waiting around the corner.

Damn globe that sucks. My captain got towed when he parked in the fire lane because he went inside to grab his FD radio. My captain explained to the guy who he was and why he went inside and parked in the fire lane but the moron didn't seem to care.
