NYC is fantastic in a lot of ways for clothing (of course), but it really is horrible for thrifting most of the time. Priced up + heavy competition/picking over = not too many deals.

Ya, I was shocked at how crazy the prices were. Its a waste of time. Its happening more and more everywhere though, so much so that I really don't bother with it anymore.

Finished my raid today.

Besides a few streetwear items, I got:

- A 40R Corneliani SC, wool/silk blend, in a nice dark brown color
- Another 39R Bill Blass jacket, in a diff. color (I'm trying to decide if it's charcoal or black; it has a very faint blue pinstripe)
- A black and grey Southwick houndstooth tweed SC -- and this one actually fits me!
- A 15.5 slim-fit white BB shirt, that I'll have to take the sleeves in on
- A peach pocket square that, to my surprise, didn't have any stains
- Two nice cashmere sweaters (one pink, one heather grey), for my girlfriend

sooooo true.
only as has been said many times before, sometimes the thrift prices rival retail prices and sometimes they are even more.

I am envious of some of these sweet deals!!

I picked up a NWT polo tie today-I will post pics later. I was inspired by this thread and couldn't believe it when I saw the tie.

What thrift stores are your usuals? Goodwill? Salvation Army?

Licensed Crap (or just Crap) Day:

Passed on several items today. Hope this isn't a sign for summer:

Hickey Freeman suit - Boardroom model (so it must be the main line, right?) 60% wool, 40% Polyester!
Lanvin tie - couldn't remember the differences between new/good and old/licensed crap, but the tie was 4" wide and looked like one of those Magic Pictures.
Christian Dior suit (this is the licensed crap label, right)-

Two suits, at a store that seems to pride itself on separating suits, and both crap

Scored my first decent shirt today, a Thomas Pink. It's a 16/35, anyone interested before I throw it up in B&S tomorrow? The marsupials stapled the price tag to the collar so there's a small hole, as can be seen in the photo, but other than that it's fine. Will let it go cheap due to that. French cuffs.
