Almost done becoming Dutch. Stoked as hell. Eligible through my pops, who was born on a sand dune at low tide just outside Nieuwe Bildtzijl, north of Leeuwarden. It might seem cheap that I can become Dutch and go work in the EU and not speak a lick of the language, but I promise to nootje that I will do my best to learn. I also plan to go to Curacao. How else can I use this new passport to great personal advantage?

Who else is dually?

I dont have one now but I am considering it. I was born in the Ukraine but dont see any benefit unless they join the EU (very unlikely, though)

unjung, which country were you born in?

Judging by his post, OP was born in the good 'ole US of A, but is eligible for a Dutch passport because his father was born in the Netherlands.

Canadian. I am eligible as my father became Canadian before the age of majority, and therefore did not lose his Dutch citizenship at the same time.

British/Canadian - father was born in the UK, I took out UK citizenship in my early 20s once I learned that I could. It wasn't until last year that I learned that my father didn't actually become a Canadian citizen until a year or so before I was born.

I didn't know that. Honestly, I'm out of ideas then.

aren't you eligible even if your grandparents were born in the country you are applying for? I know it works like that for Portugal.

Not for Holland, but yes, I've heard of some countries doing it that way.

Cdn/Italian.

If you feel like it you can move to the EU without a visa. Not just for work but anything. Study, retire or just to take a year off.

Without it the visa requirements might make it tough. Or at least require more hoops

Yes, already planning this. My firm is actually planning a London office and I'm hoping to go open it.
