Cordovan is a great durable hide for shoes period. It is not better or worst than cowhide, lizard, suede, croc, alligator, ostrich or any other hide that a great shoemaker can use to make shoes/boots. It is just different and has the properties you speak of.

Has anyone seen chicken leg boots? Yes, I said chicken leg.

and they look it too! i magnified the pic to 1000% and noticed a slight crease on the vamp. besides that one flaw they look good for 20 year old shoes.
