what do you like about your career?

What is your career and what do you like about it? When I say "like," I mean you gain energy by doing it. For example, Networking: some people find it exhausting, others find that the more people they talk to in a room, the more energized they get.

Here is what I can think of in terms of daily activities that jobs can entail, beyond entry-level:

motivating people under you
presenting
data analysis/research (on your own)
writing (letters, speeches, emails, reports)
making decks
asking people **** (gathering information)
giving orders
yelling at people for doing something wrong
convincing someone to buy something
accounting
teamwork
meeting new people and newtorking

As I'm about to graduate with a business degree, I realize I can't stand most of this ****. I should have gone into product design or engineering

This is a bit of a broad question. I think you're referring more to what "tasks" we enjoy as opposed to things like coworkers, flexibility, compensation, etc. So here are a few tasks I enjoy: -Working as part of a small team on a given project. Large teams are almost always unmitigated disasters. - Negotiating with suppliers. - Process improvements. - Working with internal clients to define needs/finances/timelines of projects - Presenting Here are some tasks I dislike (to varying degrees): - Administrative crap. At a non-manager level you will spend time filling out forms, correcting errors in Excel sheets, etc. And it will suck. - Attending most meetings. - Dealing with irate suppliers. - Dealing with intransigent internal clients. - E-mail correspondence. A necessary evil, but time consuming (often incredibly so) and tedious.

i really like the variety of my career. In the course of a morning I could be talking property developments, fashion, banking, orpanage renovations, hard drive read speeds, scrutinising models, international trade barriers, then arguing over the right shade of red for balloons and so on.

I have a short attention span, so I have always enjoyed that about what I do.

- the opportunity to learn (I get to see what's going on in the business as a whole rather than focus on just one aspect of the business)

things i dislike:
- meetings
- being treated like an entry-level employee (i am entry-level, but i would like to feel a little bit more important)
- dealing with bickering/irate co-workers
- administrative/grey area tasks that no one else wants to do
