Ughh this thread is making me depressed.

I basically got kicked out when high school ended and I've supported myself with jobs ranging from stage hypnotist to legal secretary since. I used money I made at Barneys to help pay for community college and now at a mid tier state school.

**** you guys whose parents pay for every ******* thing and then drop a grand on Julius (0)

Its on Jun Takahashis blog. The jacket is also on display at the Sendai UC cover store for a bit Dude bought a jacket from the Sendai store, and he lost it after the quake Jun Takahashi sent the guy his own personal clothes, and the dude is thankful A week later, he finds his jacket, comes into the Sendai store, they help him wash it, and it looks really cool http://blog.honeyee.com/jtakahashi/archives/2011/04/19/

No doubt a case-by-case thing, but ballin' parents footing the bill for any and all of their child's expenses could have wildly different results even if intent is the same.

The child may reward their parents' generosity of paying for everything, necessities or otherwise, by kicking ass in school, which theoretically leads to a good job that will enable them to fully support themselves financially.

On the other side of the coin, the kid may exploit the parents' willingness to pick up the tab for everything and just sort of coast along, becoming a slacker-ass adult who's still "balling" well into his or her 20's because mom and dad are paying the credit card bill.

I've witnessed both and it's difficult to predict how each kid is going to respond to that sort of treatment. I know quite a few good people who are in their late 20's / early 30's who are still financially relying on their parents.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I do these days. Probably 90% of the cost of what I buy is funded from selling clothes I have. I'm limited space wise (small apartment, even smaller closet), fund-wise, and I don't like having stuff sitting around that I don't wear when I could turn it into $ to spend on something I would wear (or traveling, or booze).

grass is always greener. Everyone always desires what they can't have.
