It probably has something to do with the apparent incongruity of the material choice with the historically intended purpose of jackets of this design. But, if the jacket in question is calf suede, then it's probably already thicker (and "safer") than the lambskin DRs that are ubiquitous here, none of which will be used for riding, I would think. All that's left to say is that it defies convention and will draw some ire from some people. The important part is if you can make it look good though. If you can do that, who cares. Personally, I think it looks a little weird now, but will look totally BA after it gets worn in and darkens.

edit:
secondly, who the **** buys a dr in suede...cmoooooooon
I think this was already answered: People that have got 13 leather jackets. I applaud your efforts to get people to diversify their wardrobe, though. I enjoy seeing people who can bridge the spectrum of menswear with a lot of different types of fits the most.

Looks great dong. I would personally prefer white tee. Which leather is it? Ss09 lamb?

I gave up on the pony tail around 10 yrs back. Jacket, jeans and black boots may have featured in my wardrobe...

my choice of T's were possibly more dubious

Robert Plant was kind of cool, wasn't he? (Will google later, Fairport Convention as well-no idea what that is.)
