I'm looking for a pair of dress cordovans in black or walnut. Are AE cordovan as good or similar to the Aldens? Other than the price diff. please educate me which one you would prefer and why? Thanks in advance.

Try both on. Buy whichever fits better.

I have 3 Alden cordos and 1 AE.

Something about Alden Cordovan Longwings (in whiskey

) that I can't get enough of. Will own soon enough.

Personally I find Alden quality/construction to be slightly better than AE.. not by a whole lot though.

E Cordovan is quite a bit cheaper though. Would probably go for a cordovan boot or chukka from AE if they make 1 at good price point.

ah, I think the problem is the waist treatment not toebox being necessary clunky. Personally that's the reason I would buy Alden, not as dressy shoe, but more like for casual wear.

Definitely their best shell shoe at the moment.

Are any of their boots offered in shell?

Nice. Can you post pictures? I've been considering this shoe. The pics on AEs website are pretty bad. Is it the same dark brown color as the Darlton?

I have the AE MacNeils in burgundy cordovan and it's a beautiful color. I highly recommend the shoe. I think you can get in the AE megasale thread for around $450. I don't have any experience with Alden cordovan, but it seems Alden has had a lot of QC issues lately. If you can afford it, EG cordovan is on a whole other level. I have a pair in whiskey shell that are incredible.

Thought you might be interested in a new video we posted to our YouTube channel. The video takes a look at the relationship and processes of Allen Edmonds and Horween.
