it's not my fault that dickheads everywhere are overhyping it, that doesn't mean it's a bad idea

Why is it a good idea, though? I mean, I can understand the philosophy behind buying less but better. But buying less just to buy less? And getting rid of things you already have? Unless those are items you already dislike, I don't really understand it. I wanna go to NYC and try on some YSL Johnny boots damnit. I don't think anywhere in Montreal has them.

Well, the goal is to be able to travel light and not have a bunch of stuff I don't really need. I like to move at least every couple of years, or at least, just be ready and able to do so easily should an opportunity come up.

And on your second point, actually most of what I'm getting rid of is stuff I dislike. I've been slowly purging a lot of mall brand crap I used to have (save for H&M, for which I still make an exception).

But I remember the end of my freshman year of college when I was able to pack everything I owned into my old 528e. I had maybe two pairs of shoes, but probably it was just one. Now I have like 12 or 13, which isn't necessarily bad, but does sometimes strike me as kind of ridiculous.

So yeah I want to buy less and better, but I also want to include "more versatile" in my definition of "better" so I can do more with less.

this will hopefully provide further explanation:

Minimalist wardrobe is seriously overrated. Some justifications are cool (mobility, lack of funds, don't really like clothing as much anymore) but otherwise it's just dudes gettin all wet over having a bunch of pure, aryan khakis and jeans and shirts that you can mix and match like a barbie closet
