How long did it take for you to articulate that collection of verbiage.

Yes. Chan. Scabal "Ascona" heavy cotton twill. .... I have a couple lavender shirts.. I think it might be too much for me with the tan. I'll wear lavender with a navy jacket though.

The only--and I do mean the only--things he likes are solid navy or charcoal suits (or a navy jacket and gray pants) worn with solid or evenly striped blue shirts, dark blue ties and black or dark brown shoes. That's it.

Everything else to him is tacky/ugly/you name it.

He will dismiss this as an argument from authority but the fact that there is a whole universe out there of well dressed men who wear/have worn ... you know ... other stuff! ... is just dismissed out of hand. Everyone from Astair to Prince Charles dresses like ****. Except him.

He actually hides behind a double layer of anonymity. Not only does he post anonymously on a message board, he is also the sock of another username here. So, in addition to being anal, and a dick, he is a *****. A tri-fecta, you might say.

All I said was: awful tie, blah shoes.

Hardly harsh yet it prompts a string of invective and childish name-calling.

You really can't take criticism of any sort can you. In fact, not only have I never seen anyone really take issue with you, I have never seen you react with anything other than stunned amazement when they do.

Sock puppet or not, it doesn't matter. Your are not the untouchable epitome of style you think you are.

Oh yeah, I read that awesome thread recently, but it was lacking closure. ETA: BTW, I'm wondering what the hive mind is thinking about Parker's socks today. The colour choice to me doesn't look bad at all, but the stark contrast to both pants and shoes seems to call a lot of attention to the socks.

Striped tie for gdl. Tan cotton suit too casual for conservative business dress? I think I could use a pair of mid-brown or tan calf shoes.

All nice, despite the fact I apparently only like gray and navy and solid ties.

I'm pretty sure I've said the same thing in so many words a few times before. A sock puppet that's neither funny, informative nor original is kind of a waste. I hope you're in better form in your regular guise.

To be fair to Manton, I don't think he was reacting to your comments towards him at all. More towards your comments in general.

I do think you are often correct in a lot of what you say (not all), but things could be stated in a nicer tone which I think is the main issue people have when you come on a thread and start posting.

It would also be nice for you to reveal yourself, but I guess that ruins the mystique.

This is the go-to response to me whenever I challenge what someone says. "You think you are God/know everything/are always right." Uh, huh. Such a weak and predictable response does not exacly betray substance underneath.

Wait, you never see anyone take issue with be but you always see me react a certain way when they do? Okaaaay.

You are consistently a prick on this site. All you do is insult people with drive-by snark. You add nothing of value. Exactly what you accuse me of, you quite obviously are in spades: a self-appointed know-it-all who thinks pissing on others without contributing is the epitome of sophistication.

This thread is a conversation. There is a lot of give and take here and an attempt to give constructive advice. Your posts are a waste. You are not wanted.

Oh, and the idea that brown punch caps are blah but the shoes you like are not? Those are not boring enough for you? But somehow plain black or darker brown are less blah? It's a meaningless, contentless criticism. If you were half the maven you think you are you would be able to explain yourself in way that was not full of contradictions.

I am really confused by these comments. What does this have to do with asking for a photo of a tux?

The first comment was referring to this awesome thread http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=124756 The second one had nothing to do with it, but I dislike creating two successive posts* so I decided to squeeze that one in. mea culpa. [*ETA: In a twist borrowed from the classics, it seems that in trying to avoid it, I created just what I was trying to avoid. ]
