Which is to say, don't do it.

are you serious? you would consider not buying an item just because it has passants? if anything's reached the saturation point it's rigid thinking like this. it's the equivalent of "NO BLACK SUITS EXCEPT AT FUNERALS"

I was actually being a little tongue-in-cheek, but I guess that didn't come through in my post.

Yes, I would consider not buying something just because it has passants. In fact, I find it hard to envision a situation in which I would buy something that has passants.

In most cases they make an article of clothing look stupidly over-designed and try-hard. Obviously there's military-inspired stuff and some leathers where they make sense, but it's hit the point where you see them on t-shirts and cardigans (and approximately 90% of shirts and jackets sold by J@ckThre@ds).

At this point, I'm pretty sick of looking at them, and I have been for a while. I think this will spread to the non-Internet population in the near future.

Put another way, if the douchey fedora is the new trucker hat, passants are the new popped collar.

^^^ Fair enough. I'd say it's a style where they can be included without making the jacket looking silly and over-designed per se, but particularly given the current ubiquity of passants, I think it would look better without them.

Debating whether to get these now or sit on them until a sale rolls around. People have mentioned that AllSaints puts their derivative clothing on sale all the time, but they always seem to be out of the larger shoe sizes when sales roll around. I guess the question is more so, "is it stupid to buy these at retail?", since I'm going to pick them up at some point anyway.

Still undecided on whether or not I look silly in turtlenecks.
