I scouted this busted out garage on the wrong side of town, and we did two photography sessions there (with my pleb Canon PowerShoot) on two different days. I wasn't 100% satisfied with either session; in both cases we were a little rushed, and on today's session we had attracted the attention of a few passers by, including an incoherent, quasi-beligerent man, so we were apprehensive about flashing expensive DJ mixer there. Not exactly the best circumstances for photography. Also, I have almost no experience with taking photos of actual human beings.

I did like the way this turned out, though:

great pics guys. NOBD, what software do you use for your black and whites? Trini, how big are those stones? It's hard to tell if they're small or really big. pretty cool

Cheers. They're actually pretty small (between 3 - 6") but that was the look I was going for.

Photoshop > Channel Mixer, and after that I fool around with the levels or curves to get it the way I want.

do you initially shoot in b&w or do you convert it in PS? Your tones look great. I was wanting to try the EFEX II software, but I think I will play around more in P.S.

No, I shoot in colour and use the Channel Mixer in PS to convert. Thanks. * * * Impressive pics, eqpablon. Nice one, Trini.

Anyone have experience with the Canon EFS 15-85mm? My 17-85mm doesn't work anymore in the 17-24 reach, likely because of a defect in the aperture cable. Repairing is probably pretty expensive, and doing it myself is not an option.
