They opened a Johnny Rockets over here in a department store food court (which usually has a bunch of Korean food options in quick serve cafeteria form), so we went and burg'ed out today, but I was sitting there eating it and watching all these skinny Korean women eating noodle soup, and I'm there with this greasy burger in my hand, and i realized - 'this is not food that beautiful people eat'

They're all skinny because who the hell can afford to eat 3 meals a day at the prices you list.

that is literally true. Fat guys are actually attractive to ladies here, because they look like they know where the food is and can afford it. I'm being totally serious.

alright, to add to that, we're sitting there, and since this is a food court there's tons of Korean food as I mentioned; the Johnny Rocket's is kinda partitioned off with floor staff of it's own though. So we are seated next to this young mother and her toddler, and the kid is standing on the wheeled high chair. I am pretty sure the kid is gonna tumble backwards and marsupial herself for life, but the mom is on her iphone playing a game I think. Suddenly this old ass Korean lady comes in with a tray of Korean cold noodles, and the floor waiter guy is like, 'sorry, this is for our burger shop customers only, blah, blah' and then the old lady goes psycho on him, and she turns out to be the young mother's own mother. So old lady sits down and starts slurping noodles in the middle of the burger shop. Then a younger sister comes along with her own tray, soybean paste stew and really ripe kimchi, and sits down next to my girlfriend and permeates our breathing air with this stuff...

The kid is still going crazy, had fallen once and was wailing for about 20 minutes, grandma was slurping noodles and comforting the kid at the same time... They eventually got a couple burgers and a plate of fries and they all just kinda ate on everything. This kind of scenario is completely normal.

There was a white lady and her young daughter at the table on the other side of this crazy 3-woman family, and I feel pretty bad for the white lady because she got more of all of it than we did, via the grandma and the apeshit toddler.

My favorite dish at a local restaurant is grilled bread with avocado, pistachios, toasted pistachio oil, and sea salt. It's insanely simple and insanely good.

This is almost as funny as your recount of the infamous Costco onion/ketchup incident. If it's any consolation, the eating habits of the average American isn't any more pleasant; worse, perhaps.

Ode to a martini.

THOU still delicious concoction of alcohol,\t
Thou foster-child of hard liquor and remnant,\t
Fellow alcoholics, who canst thus express\t
An infused tale more sweetly than Nolly Pratt:\t
What leaf-fringed herbs infused into thy gin
Of English or French or American, or of both,\t
In Hotel Costes or the dales of Oxford?\t
What ambrosia of gods are these? What maidens shall succumb?
What mad consumption? What struggle to resist?\t
What glass and tumblers? What wild ecstasy?
